Houston has a long history of judo and martial arts training. The first judo club was established in 1947 by Dr Masao Yamamoto. Since then, there have been several other judo clubs in Houston.

Judo is an art of self-defence and combat sport. It is a form of grappling where you use leverage and balance to throw your opponent.

      It was created by Jigoro Kano, who wanted to create a system that would teach people self-confidence, respect and self-defence without using weapons.

      Beginners start with white belts, and in time they get higher, like a green belt or blue belt.

      You will need to learn all kinds of judo skills:

      If you want get your black belt in judo you need to practice it regularly for couple of years.
